Navigating https://www.va.gov
This guide walks veterans step-by-step through accessing, downloading, and saving their Proof of Service, Benefit Summary Letters, and other key VA documents from https://www.va.gov & the VA Health & Benefits app.
On Phone or Tablet:
You can access your VA documents through your mobile browser (following the same steps as the desktop version) or BY USING THE VA: HEALTH & BENEFITS APP.
- Download and install the “VA: Health and Benefits” app from your phone or tablet’s app store.
- Log in or create an account at login.gov. Keep your login information saved for later use.
- Open the VA: Health and Benefits app.
- Tap “Sign In”, then “Continue to sign in”, and select “LOGIN.gov”.
- Enter your credentials and tap “Agree and Continue” to reach your dashboard.
- From the bottom menu, tap “Benefits”.
- Select “VA Letters and Documents.”
- Tap “Review Letters.”
- Choose “Benefit Summary & Service Verification.”
- Select only the information you need (for this purpose, choose Proof of Service only).
- Tap “Review Letter.”
- Once your letter opens, download it or take a screenshot to save a copy.
Helpful Tip: Once your Proof of Service appears, immediately download or screenshot it, that ensures you’ll have a backup for printing or submission.
