SMS Essentials is Second Mission Shield’s practical-resource program. It collects, prepares, and directs donated goods toward veterans facing immediate needs, housing transitions, financial hardship, recovery-related instability, or the work of rebuilding a household.
This includes basic household goods, furniture, bedding, hygiene supplies, clothing, kitchen items, seasonal necessities, and other useful resources that can reduce a real barrier in someone’s daily life.
SMS does not treat donated goods as miscellaneous inventory. Each accepted item must have a clear use, remain in serviceable condition, and be handled with the same respect we expect for the person who may receive it.
The purpose is simple: recover useful resources, manage them responsibly, and place them where they can serve again.
