Forged for the Interview

Career Readiness & Employment Preparation

Forged for Opportunity.

Forged for the Interview is Second Mission Shield’s career readiness program. It helps veterans re enter the civilian workforce with practical tools, preparation, and support. The program removes common barriers to employment by combining resume assistance, interview preparation, and professional presentation support. Veterans can focus on showing up ready, not scrambling to catch up.

Why It Matters

Transitioning from military service into civilian employment comes with unseen obstacles. Veterans often bring strong skills and experience but lack updated resumes, professional attire, or interview preparation aligned with civilian expectations. These gaps slow momentum and erode confidence.

Forged for the Interview bridges that gap. It provides structure, resources, and encouragement so veterans can compete effectively and move forward with purpose.

What This Program Does

  • Provides resume development and translation of military experience into civilian language
  • Offers mock interviews and interview coaching to build confidence and readiness
  • Supplies professional and business attire for interviews and employment
  • Coordinates grooming support, including haircuts, when needed
  • Accepts and distributes donated business and professional clothing
  • Removes financial and logistical barriers that delay job readiness

Who It's For

Forged for the Interview serves veterans at any stage of transition. It supports those preparing for employment, returning to the workforce, or working toward greater career stability. Participation does not require being in crisis or enrolled in another program. Support is available when and where it is needed.

How This Fits Our Continuum

Transition & Reintegration | Support & Stabilization | Recovery & Rebuilding

Forged for the Interview supports veterans across the full continuum. Meaningful employment reinforces identity, confidence, and stability. These are essential foundations for long term reintegration and recovery.
